Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart” With Elton John Flips His Classic Hits “Rocket Man” & “Sacrifice”
“This track is the culmination of a beautiful friendship.”
A rising star links up with a music legend today, with Dua Lipa and Elton John joining forces on “Cold Heart (PNAU Remix).” The song is produced by PNAU and reimagines two of Elton John’s classic hits: “Sacrifice” and “Rocket Man (I Think It’s Going to Be A Long, Long Time).”
Fans will immediately recognize the songs’ first verse and chorus, which are taken from John’s 1989 hit “Sacrifice”:
“It’s a human sign
When things go wrong
When the scent of her lingers
And temptation’s strong
Cold, cold heart
Hardened by you
Some things look better, baby
Just passin’ through”
Meanwhile, Dua’s new vocals feature an interpolation of “Rocket Man (I Think It’s Going to Be A Long, Long Time),” where she sings:
“And I think it’s gonna be a long, long time
‘Til touchdown brings me ’round again to find
I’m not the man they think I am at home
Oh no, no, no”
“This track is the culmination of a beautiful friendship with you Dua and I’m so happy we can now share it,” Elton John wrote on Twitter. “I hope you all love it!” Dua Lipa and Elton John recently made headlines after they both spoke out against homophobic comments made by Lipa’s former collaborator DaBaby.
It’s not the first recent song to reimagine “Rocket Man.” Atlanta rapper Young Thug’s 2018 song, “High,” sampled the Elton John classic while adding new rap verses.
